The NBA season would’ve tipped off tonight, but the lockout has wiped out the first month of the season and possibly more. The NBA’s best hope for a deal lies in the hands of Lakers guard Derek Fisher, who is president of the Players Association. That’s not to say Fisher hasn’t been clutch before. In Game 5 of the 2004 Western Conference Semifinals, the guard hit a fallaway 18-foot jump shot with 0.4 seconds remaining to give the Lakers a 3-2 series lead. Los Angeles closed out the series in Game 6. (John W. McDonough/SI)
