During the 1912 Indianapolis 500, Ralph DePalma drove one of the most dominating races in history after leading laps 3 to 196. Unfortunately, with less than two laps left, his car suffered pistol failure and was unable to continue. Joe Lawson would wind up winning, but DePalma and his riding mechanic wanted to finish the race. The two wound up pusing the car down the entire length of the frontstretch to the finish line.
