Thanks to Nelson Cruz, the Rangers took a 2-0 lead on the Tigers in the ALDS while the Cardinals and Brewers are tied at 1-1 in the NLCS. Meanwhile, The Red Sox and Yankees (and their combined payroll of $370 million) are sitting home waiting for spring training. What better time to revisit this infamous image of Jason Varitek shoving his glove in Alex Rodriguez’s face during a July 2004 melee. Eighteen years ago today, Michael Jordan retired from the NBA to pursue his dream of playing professional baseball. He spent one season playing outfield for the Birmingham Barons, the Double A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, and batted .202 with three home runs and 51 RBIs.
