November is “Movember,” a month-long event where men grow their mustaches (and facial hair) to raise awareness for men’s health issues. And what better athlete to represent the mustache population than Rollie Fingers. (AP)

Thanks to Nelson Cruz, the Rangers took a 2-0 lead on the Tigers in the ALDS while the Cardinals and Brewers are tied at 1-1 in the NLCS. Meanwhile, The Red Sox and Yankees (and their combined payroll of $370 million) are sitting home waiting for spring training. What better time to revisit this infamous image of Jason Varitek shoving his glove in Alex Rodriguez’s face during a July 2004 melee. SI photograher Damian Strohmeyer used a Canon 400 f2.8 with a 1.4 converter to take the above photo.

The White Sox hired Robin Ventura to be their new manager. Let’s hope his tenure is more successful than this 1993 fight against Nolan Ryan in which Chicago’s new skipper was punched six times by the 46-year old before teammates came to his rescue. (AP)

He spent one season playing outfield for the Birmingham Barons, the Double A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, and batted .202 with three home runs and 51 RBIs. In March 1995, Jordan returned to the NBA and led the Bulls to three more championships. (Ben Van Hook/SI)
